Jesus left Heaven, Spirit became body, For the sake of mercy For the aim of restoration In the name of Love Because God, who is Love Loved the world so much, He sent His only Son For the sake Of all creation. For you, For me, Jesus bore that tree —Formed from His Word, Sustained through His every breath— He was obedient Even unto death Upon the cross. Jesus allowed the nails, —Made from metal, Mined from mountains That are His footstool— To pierce His human skin. He took our place Bore our sin. Jesus, the Creator Born into His creation —The very Incarnation Of the Living God— Suffered and died, Reviled, Crucified. Death at the hand Of the very humans He was dying for. A grief foretold, And even death Could not hold The Sovereign One. The Breath of Life arose! This is a third day story! The Son of God Jesus, the Christ, Gave up Glory Freely died To save our lives Beginning, End Alpha, Omega The First, The Last My future, My past My very present help, In times of need. My Savior. My Jesus. It is finished! — Anna Williams
