Shame

a poem about a High Priest whose mercy abounds greater than your deepest shame

If shame is a barrier 
Between you and God, 
Just remember 
That shame is a wall
Built by human hands. 
Tear it down,
And there Jesus stands,
Waiting. 

He already died for that sin
That you think
Makes you unloveable. 
You were loved
Before you were born. 
You were wanted
When you were dead
In your sin.
Jesus loved you enough
To die for you,
And take your penalty
Upon himself,
Before you took
Your first breath. 

So come boldly 
To the throne,
Oh daughters and sons, 
To your Father 
Full of Grace,
And there you will receive 
The mercy 
You so desperately seek. 
Come to the great High Priest,
Rest at his feet,
And you will find 
The help you need, 
In Jesus.
